UC IPM has launched a new, mobile-friendly format of the Pest Management Guidelines: Peach! The design has been changed to be more compatible with mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) at our stakeholders’ request, and as required by UC IPM’s strategic plan.

UC IPM has Pest Management guidelines for 47 crop groups. Of the common orchard crops in the Sacramento Valley, the pages for Almonds, Olives, Pistachios, and Walnuts have already been updated to this new format; Kiwi and Prune page updates are projected to be finished by the end of 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Images below illustrate the updates to the mobile site:

The old format (left) scaled linearly, while the new format (right) is responsive; this means the new format organizes the content on the page based on the size of the screen of the device.

Tables in the new format (right) also scale responsively for ease of use in the mobile format.

The icon of the small blue circle with person in it in the new format (right) is a tool to make the site more visually accessible; it can be used to increase contrast, font size, line height and more.

Current reformatting is only part of the project. The new format also helps UC IPM to update information more efficiently, bringing users the most up-to-date information possible. Stay tuned for more updates to the UC IPM site!
