Post-Harvest Nut Crop IPM Meeting – November 2nd

I am hosting a UC-sponsored post-harvest nut crop IPM meeting (focusing on almonds and walnuts) next Wednesday, November 2, 8am – noon. The meeting may end a little earlier depending on length of discussion/round-table portion.

We will be meeting at the Chico State Farm Pavilion (Nicholas C Shouten Ln, Chico, CA 95928 – off of Hegan Lane in south Chico). 2 hours of DPR PCA units approved (“other”).

We are planning on four fixed-topic presentations/discussions covering: spider mite management in almonds and walnuts, 2016 disease highlights in almonds and walnuts, ant ID and management in almonds, and harvest sample damage ID in almonds and walnuts. The remainder of the time is set aside for round-table discussion of any other topics of interest. Dani Lightle (Farm Advisor), myself, and Kris Tollerup (IPM advisor from San Joaquin area) will be presenting/leading discussions. Other area farm advisors (Rick Buchner, Janine Hasey, Franz Niederholzer, and Katherine Jarvis-Shean) will likely be in attendance to provide their insights in the discussions as well.

PCA/CCAs and any growers or other interested parties are welcome to attend. There is no charge. Coffee, juice, water, donuts will be provided.

If any special accommodations are required for you to attend, please contact me at 530-538-7201 so that arrangements can be made in advance.
